Each Angel Has Its Own Energy, Its Own Illumination
For those who may be called to Angels... these are very unique gifts, one-of-a-kind paintings, handcrafted with love in my Santa Fe, New Mexico studio. When I sit down to paint the Angel I really allow myself to be quiet and just go with the flow as I paint, so each one is watercolored individually, uniquely. After I paint the Angel, I decide which colors would best suit the wood plaque. Finally, on the back, each one is hand signed and stamped with the Kathy Maniscalco Art Studio insignia for authentication.
How My Angel Art Came Into Being
The Angel depicted on the plaques is based upon my original oil painting "Angel", which was donated to the Santa Fe Artists Medical Relief Fund's Silent Auction a few years ago. This painting was inspired by a trip to Italy, after the passing of my husband who valiantly battled ALS. Tom strongly encouraged me to visit Italy, asking my friend Bonnie that she promise to take me, that it would be a character expanding experience. WOW! He was spot on. Thank you, dear Tom !
In Italy it seemed at every turn there were Angels. Angel sculpture, paintings, home decor items and of course many historic, religious and spiritual references - I was truly captured by the beauty I saw in all of them.

I have invented a process that allows me to paint the Angel using watercolors, on a fine art paper that is permanently adhered to a wooden plaque. The result is my interpretation of an angelic icon.
I decorate the plaques with gold metal leaf and acrylic paints. Most plaques also have raised ornamentations that are covered in metal leaf for dimension and texture. The backs of plaques are either painted or sealed with shellac, stamped with my Maniscalco Art Studio insignia, and hand signed and dated. All plaques are sealed with archival varnish or waxed for protection.
These plaques are ready to display in your home as they come with a wall hanger. They can be rested on a mantle, in a niche, or on a small easel on a shelf too!
Because each one is an original work of art, all Angel plaques and gift sales are final.
